Terms, in sentences you can finish.
These terms govern your use of Billr. They are short because the deal is simple: we give you software for making and sending invoices, and you take responsibility for what is on them.

1. Who these terms are with
Billr is operated by the entity named below (“Billr”, “we”, “us”). By using the website, the invoice generator or an account, you accept these terms. If you use Billr on behalf of a company, you confirm you are allowed to accept them for that company.
Billr is operated from Belgium. You can reach us at [email protected].
2. What Billr is
Billr is software for creating, sending and tracking business documents: invoices, credit notes, quotes and receipts. It renders a document from what you type, produces a print-ready PDF, can e-mail that document to your client, and keeps a record of what has been paid.
The invoice generator works in your browser without an account and is free to use. An account adds saved invoices, stored clients, sequential numbering, sending and payment tracking. What is included on each plan is set out on the pricing page, which forms part of these terms.
Billr is not a bank, a payment processor, an accounting ledger, a tax filing service or an e-invoicing compliance product, and it does not file anything with any authority on your behalf. Where you switch it on, Billr sends and receives e-invoices through the Peppol network by way of an access point provider acting on our instructions. That provider verifies the identity of the person who registers the business; Billr registers and deregisters your business there when you switch the feature on or off. Whether an invoice meets the rules that apply to you remains your responsibility.
3. Your account
Accounts are for one person or one business, identified by an e-mail address. There is no password: you sign in with a one-time code sent to that address, which means whoever controls the mailbox controls the account. Keep access to it secure, and tell us promptly if you think somebody else has it.
You are responsible for everything done through your account, including invoices sent from it. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and you must give accurate details.
4. Free and paid plans
- Free costs nothing, requires no card, and does not expire. It includes unlimited use of the generator, five saved invoices a month, your clients and logged hours, all six templates, logging the bills you receive, and a small “Made with Billr” line in the PDF footer. It also includes a small number of booking pages, guest lists and QR tickets, set out on the pricing page. Sending by e-mail, online payment on bookings, invitations by e-mail and the finance overview are part of the subscription.
- Events puts you in charge of other people’s details: the names, addresses, replies and dietary notes of the people who book or whom you invite. You collect those on your own behalf and are responsible for having the right to; Billr stores them for you and shows them to nobody else. A booking page or an invitation you share is public to whoever holds the link, so share it as you would a document.
- E-invoicing through Peppol is part of the subscription in the countries where the network is used. Billr includes 20 documents a month and Billr Plus 60, sent and received together; the trial includes 5. Each further document on a paid plan costs 0.25 euro (0.25 dollar on a plan billed in dollars), charged once, at the start of the following month, to the payment method of your subscription. Settings shows the count as it happens, and an amount under 1 euro is carried over to the next month rather than charged on its own. Registering on the network includes an identity check by the access point provider, and you remain responsible for the content of what you send.
- A subscription unlocks everything else and is billed monthly in advance. There is no annual plan and no minimum term. It runs for the month you have paid for and renews only if you leave it in place. Every account may switch on one free trial of the full product for 30 days, which requires no card and charges nothing when it ends.
- Prices are shown in euro or in US dollars depending on where you are. The amount displayed is the amount charged, with nothing added at checkout. Your currency is fixed when you subscribe and does not change afterwards.
- Limits exist to keep the service sustainable, not to trap you. Hitting a limit never deletes anything, and never blocks you from downloading what you have already made.
5. Billing and cancellation
Paid plans are billed monthly in advance and renew each month until you cancel. There is no annual commitment. The 30 day trial needs no card, so nothing is ever charged without you choosing it. Card details are held by our payment provider, not by us.
You can cancel at any time from inside the app. Cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep the paid features until the end of the month you have already paid for. We do not refund part-used months, except where the law where you live says otherwise or where we have plainly failed to deliver the service.
We may change prices. Existing subscribers are told by e-mail at least thirty days before a change affects them, and can cancel before it does. Downgrading limits what you can create from that point on; it never removes documents you have already created.
6. Your content stays yours
Your invoices, clients, logo, business details and anything else you put into Billr remain yours. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service: to store that content, render it into documents, and transmit it to the recipients you choose. We do not use it to train anything, and we do not sell it.
You are responsible for having the right to use what you upload, and for the accuracy of every figure, description and tax rate on a document you send. You can export your data or delete your account at any time. See the privacy notice.
7. Billr is not an accountant
This is the most important clause on the page, so it is not hidden in a list.
Billr does not provide accounting, tax, legal or financial advice, and nothing in the product, on this website or in any e-mail from us is advice about your situation. The templates, example figures, tax presets and guidance pages are illustrative only.
Billr deliberately does not implement country-specific tax rules. It does not decide which rate applies to your supply, check registration thresholds, apply reverse-charge treatment, validate tax numbers, or keep up with changes in any jurisdiction’s law. It prints the label, the rate and the amount exactly as you enter them.
You are responsible for whether an invoice you send is correct and compliant where you and your client are established. If you are unsure, ask a qualified accountant or adviser. Where structured e-invoicing is legally mandated for you, Billr can carry the document over the Peppol network, but it does not judge whether that mandate applies to you, and it does not warrant that what you send satisfies it.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Billr to:
- Issue false, fraudulent or deliberately misleading invoices.
- Impersonate another business, or invoice under a name you have no right to use.
- Send unsolicited bulk e-mail, or use invoice sending as a channel for marketing.
- Break the law, infringe someone’s rights, or facilitate either.
- Attack, overload, reverse engineer or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service, or resell it as your own.
We may remove content or suspend an account that breaches this section, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents us.
9. Availability
We work to keep Billr available and fast, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Maintenance, provider outages and faults happen. There is no uptime guarantee on any plan, and the service is provided “as is” and “as available” to the extent the law allows.
Because invoices are business records, keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose. Export is free and always available.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
Subject to that, and to the fullest extent the law permits:
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business, loss of goodwill, or loss of anticipated savings.
- We are not liable for an invoice that is unpaid, paid late, disputed, or rejected, nor for any tax, penalty, interest or professional fee arising from what you put on a document.
- Our total liability arising out of or in connection with the service in any twelve month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period, or one hundred euro if you paid us nothing.
11. Suspension and ending the agreement
You may stop using Billr at any time and delete your account from the app. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that we are legally required to close, or whose payments repeatedly fail. We will give notice, and a reasonable opportunity to export your data unless doing so would be unlawful.
If we discontinue the service altogether, we will give account holders at least sixty days’ notice and a way to export everything before it stops.
12. Changes to the service and these terms
Billr changes as it is developed; features may be added, altered or retired. We will not remove something you are actively relying on without notice and, where it is a paid feature, a way to get your data out.
We may update these terms. Material changes are e-mailed to account holders at least thirty days before they take effect, and the date at the top of this page is updated. Continuing to use Billr after that date means you accept the revised terms; if you do not, cancel and export your data.
13. Governing law
These terms, and any dispute arising from them, are governed by Belgian law, and the Belgian courts have exclusive jurisdiction, except that a consumer may also bring proceedings where they live, as their local law allows.
If any clause is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Failing to enforce a clause is not a waiver of it. These terms, together with the pricing page and the privacy notice, are the whole agreement between us.
