Invoice template for Belgium.
Amounts in Euro, a tax column labelled the way you would label it, and a document that looks like it came from a real business. Everything below is editable, because the prefill is a starting point, not a rule.

Create a free accountBTW/TVA on invoices in Belgium
Standard rate is 21%. Include your BE VAT number and the client's for intra-EU work.
In the generator, tax is set per line rather than per document, which is what you want the moment one invoice mixes a taxable service with a zero-rated or pass-through item. The label above the column is yours to set, so an invoice can say BTW/TVA rather than an imported word that means nothing to your client.
Not tax advice
Billr is invoicing software. It is not an accountant, a tax adviser or a compliance product, and nothing on this page is advice about your situation. Billr does not implement country-specific tax rules: it does not check registration thresholds, apply reverse-charge logic, validate VAT numbers, or decide which rate applies to your service. Where you switch it on, Billr can send and receive documents over the Peppol network, but it does not judge whether a national mandate applies to you or guarantee that what you send satisfies it.
The BTW/TVA rate prefilled here is a commonly used standard rate, nothing more. You are responsible for the figures on any invoice you send. If you are not certain what applies to you, ask an accountant in Belgium or check with the tax authority directly.
What every invoice needs, wherever you are
Requirements differ in the detail, but the core is fairly consistent across jurisdictions. Treat these as the starting point rather than a list that settles it for your country:
- The word “invoice”, so it cannot be mistaken for a quote or a statement.
- A unique number from an unbroken sequence, because gaps are what auditors ask about.
- The issue date, and a due date rather than “payable on receipt”.
- Your full legal or trading name, address and tax number.
- The client’s name and address, plus their tax number for cross-border work.
- A line per item: what it was, how much of it, at what unit price.
- The amount before tax, the BTW/TVA rate and amount, and the total due.
- How to pay: bank details or a payment link, in the terms field.
Invoicing across a border
When the client is in another country, put both tax numbers on the document, state the currency explicitly, and say in the terms who carries the bank charges. If a zero-rating or reverse charge applies to the supply, write the reason on the invoice in plain words. Billr gives you a free-text notes and terms field precisely so you can. What Billr will not do is decide for you whether that treatment is correct.
Common questions
What tax rate goes on an invoice in Belgium?
Standard rate is 21%. Include your BE VAT number and the client's for intra-EU work. The generator has the rate prefilled at 21% per line, and you can change it on any line or set it to zero. Billr does not decide this for you, so confirm your own position with your accountant or your tax authority.
Does Billr apply BTW/TVA rules automatically?
No, and deliberately so. Billr renders the tax label, rate and amount exactly as you enter them. It does not implement local tax logic, reverse-charge rules, registration thresholds or e-invoicing mandates, and it is not a substitute for professional advice.
Which currency should I invoice in?
This page defaults to EUR, which is what most invoices issued in Belgium use. You can switch to any of more than twenty currencies in the generator, and amounts are formatted correctly for whichever you pick.
Is this invoice template free to use?
Yes. No account, no watermark on screen and no limit on downloads. A free account exists only if you want to save the invoice, keep your numbering running and see when the client opens it.
